LAN Begins LAAB Accreditation Process

The School of Landscape Architecture at Academy of Art University is pleased to announce that it has taken the first step in the process of receiving full accreditation with the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB).

Over the next two years, the instructors and staff at the School of Architecture (LAN) will be actively preparing to take all the steps necessary to obtain full accreditation with LAAB.

The next steps in the process include receiving “candidacy status” by early 2019, and then “Initial LAAB Accreditation” by late 2019/early 2020 for the BFA program.

This is great news for both current and prospective LAN students, as the most common requirement for professional licensure is a landscape architecture degree from an accredited program.

As we progress through the accreditation process, please note the following:

  • LAN students graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree within the 2 years prior to acquiring Initial Accredited status will also be awarded a LAAB Accredited degree
  • The current BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree name will be changed to BLA (Bachelor of Landscape Architecture) by the end of 2018

Accreditation will bring another layer of recognition to the excellent quality of work Landscape Architecture students are already creating at Academy of Art University.
